Commercial Removalists Sydney

Relocating an office, retail store, hospitality venue or warehouse? JB Removals plans commercial moves around your equipment, building access and operating hours, with packing, transport and storage considered together.

Your move may involve everyday furniture, stock, heavy equipment or a combination of all three. We work through what needs to move, how it can reach the new premises and what needs to stay operational along the way. Specialist handling is assessed against the item and the complete access route.

BUSINESS RELOCATION PLANNING

The commercial relocation process

Your staff still have a business to run. Bring the locations, inventory and timing together so everyone knows what needs to happen before moving day.

1

Review the inventory and both sites

List the furniture, cartons, stock and equipment being moved. Show us the route from the vehicle to each item and from the unloading point to its new position. Include stairs, lift dimensions, carrying distances and anything too heavy or awkward for ordinary handling.

2

Agree on scope and responsibilities

Confirm who will pack, label, arrange access and prepare equipment. Record any work assigned to your IT team, trades or equipment suppliers. Your moving quote should identify the included work, exclusions and how changes to the scope will be handled.

3

Plan the sequence around reopening

Plan the moving logistics around the activities your business must resume first. Group items by destination and mark priority deliveries. For each stage, confirm the release time, receiving contact and reopening requirements. Keep essential stock and equipment accessible between phases.

4

Check placement and outstanding items

Use a shared floor plan and destination labels to guide unloading. Nominate a contact to resolve placement questions and record anything requiring follow-up. Allow time for your team or specialists to reconnect, test and prepare equipment before normal operations resume.

SYDNEY TRAFFIC AND BUILDING ACCESS

Planning commercial removals around Sydney traffic and access

A short drive can still involve a complex move. Truck access, loading windows and the route through each building need to work together.

Traffic, roadworks and delivery windows

Check the proposed route for planned roadworks, event closures and changed traffic conditions. Allow time between collection and a fixed delivery booking, and agree who to contact if access changes. An evening or weekend move still needs a route and building-access check.

Check Live Traffic NSW

Loading docks, lifts and truck clearance

Ask each building manager about dock bookings, lift access, vehicle height limits, induction requirements and permitted working hours. Include the distance from the truck to the lift or entrance. Vehicle choice needs to fit the access as well as the load.

Street access and local restrictions

For street loading, check current signs and discuss the proposed arrangements with the relevant council where needed. A nearby parking space does not establish that it is suitable for the moving vehicle or the time required.

City of Sydney parking information

For CBD and North Sydney buildings, confirm docks and lifts. For Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs and Inner West shops, identify delivery access and trading constraints. For warehouses, include manoeuvring space and dispatch requirements. Send both addresses. For premises outside the City of Sydney council area, check with the relevant local council.

THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT. A PLANNED APPROACH.

Commercial equipment moving and difficult access

Heavy items can determine the sequence of a whole business move. Identify safes, commercial fridges, large cabinets, gym equipment and machinery early, including any manufacturer handling instructions. Share known weights, dimensions and photographs of the route to the final position.

HERCULES stair-climbing equipment

JB can assess specialist stair-climbing equipment for suitable heavy-item moves. Suitability depends on the load, doorway widths, staircase, landings, corners and final placement. A machine’s rated capacity alone does not establish whether it can complete a particular route. Crew and equipment requirements are confirmed for the job.

Explore heavy-item removals →

Protection, packing and load restraint

Packing and protection need to suit the item and its transport requirements. Identify delicate surfaces, loose components and any orientation restrictions. Confirm who will empty, disconnect, dismantle and secure equipment before collection, including any work required from a specialist provider.

Vehicle & access planning

Storage between locations

If your exit date and new-site access do not line up, include storage in the plan. Identify what can be stored together, what needs to remain accessible and the order of redelivery. Ask about EasyBox and confirm suitability, access arrangements and charges for the items involved.

PRACTICAL WAYS TO SAVE

What affects the cost of a commercial move?

Commercial removal costs depend on the inventory, handling method, crew, vehicles, distance and access at both premises. Packing, storage, specialist equipment and the moving window also affect the scope. Premises size alone is not enough to price the work accurately.

01

Reduce what you move

Separate items to keep, sell, donate or dispose of before finalising the inventory. Ask for disposal work to be priced explicitly.

02

Book the building access

Confirm loading docks, goods lifts, parking and permitted moving hours at both addresses to avoid preventable waiting.

03

Label for the new layout

Mark cartons and furniture by room, team or workstation. Share a floor plan so items can go to the right place the first time.

04

Compare the complete scope

Compare packing, travel, storage, specialist handling, taxes and exclusions. Agree how scope changes will be priced.

Compare timing, preparation and total cost

Agree who will disconnect, empty, dismantle and secure equipment before collection. Coordinate any specialist work with the moving schedule.

After-hours work may reduce interruption to trading, but it does not automatically cost less. A smaller crew is not necessarily cheaper once time, access and equipment are considered.

COMMERCIAL MOVING QUESTIONS

Commercial removal FAQs

Have a question about your business move?

Talk to JB: 1300 820 861 →
What does a commercial removal service include?

The agreed service can include packing, loading, transport, unloading, placement and storage. Assembly, heavy-item handling and other specialist requirements should be identified in the quote. Confirm which tasks JB will carry out and which belong to your staff or other providers.

Can our business move after hours or over a weekend?

Tell us your operating hours and preferred moving window. JB can assess after-hours and weekend commercial removals around the work, crew availability and site access. Confirm the schedule with JB and your building managers before arranging a reopening deadline.

Can we keep part of the business running during the move?

A staged relocation may allow selected areas to remain in use. Identify the teams, stock and equipment needed during each phase, and where people can work while moving takes place. We can review the sequence and access with you before the scope is agreed.

Can you move commercial equipment down stairs?

We assess the item and the complete stair route together. Send known dimensions and weight, plus photographs of steps, landings, turns and entrances. JB will confirm what further information is needed and whether a suitable handling method is available.

What if our new premises are not ready?

Include the expected gap between collection and delivery in your enquiry. Tell us which items need storage, whether you need access to them and what should be delivered first. Storage suitability, handling and redelivery charges are agreed with the moving scope.

Who handles IT disconnection and equipment installation?

Allocate these tasks before moving day. Physical transport, IT shutdown, electrical work, installation and recommissioning have different requirements. Your internal team, equipment supplier or appropriate specialist should coordinate their work with the moving schedule.

What do you need to quote for a business relocation?

Start with your business type, locations, approximate inventory and preferred dates. Add access details and any packing, storage or heavy-item requirements you know. You can enquire before every detail is settled; a more complete assessment may be needed for the final quote.

Can you provide documents for building management?

Tell JB what your building manager requires and the submission deadline. Ask for current insurance documentation and clarify relevant cover, exclusions and responsibilities before booking. Include induction, loading-dock and lift requirements in the brief.
