3M Factory Relocation in Sydney: Heavy Machinery & 1,000+ Pallets

A week-long relocation combining more than 1,000 pallets with heavy machinery, including lathes weighing over one tonne. JB brought together a large crew, multiple trucks and an item-by-item approach to the handling equipment and factory safety process.

A factory move with two substantial workstreams

JB Removals completed a large 3M factory relocation in Sydney, bringing together high-volume pallet movement and specialist machinery handling. The move involved more than 1,000 pallets, heavy equipment including lathes weighing over one tonne, several trucks and a large crew working across a week.

The scale of the stock movement was only part of the project. Individual machines also needed to be assessed against the equipment and handling approach required for their move. The factory relocation therefore combined the volume of a major warehouse move with the individual attention needed for substantial industrial machinery.

The supplied photographs show the racked stock, wrapped pallet loads and the working area reviewed during the planning process. They capture the inventory side of the project; the heavy-lathe moves formed part of the broader scope described by JB.

Item-by-item assessment before equipment selection

Matching the machinery to the moving method

For this 3M project, JB assessed each item before deciding which equipment would be used to handle it. That approach was particularly important for the heavy lathes, where the machinery and its access requirements needed to shape the moving arrangement.

The planning focused on the relationship between the load, the task and the equipment. Heavy machinery handling was considered individually rather than treated as another pallet in the stock movement.

Planning pallet flow and truck coordination

More than 1,000 pallets also required coordination between the stock-handling work, the crew and the truck movements. Several vehicles formed part of the relocation, making planning and communication central to progressing the work across the week.

JB combined the pallet scope and the machinery scope within the same relocation programme, with the large crew and transport arrangements supporting the different stages of the move.

SWMS, inductions and training before factory entry

The factory's site-entry and safety process formed part of the preparation. JB's team went through the required inductions and training before entering the factory to carry out the work.

Safe Work Method Statement and task preparation

JB used its Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) as part of the moving process. The item assessments and equipment decisions sat alongside that preparation, helping connect each handling task with the method planned for it.

PPE and the factory working environment

Safety gear formed part of the project arrangements. The photographs include high-visibility workwear in the stock area, while the overall preparation covered the site requirements that the team needed to meet before starting the factory work.

For a relocation of this scale, site induction, task preparation and equipment assessment were part of the operation from the outset, alongside the physical movement of pallets and machinery.

Heavy lifting and high-volume stock movement across one week

The relocation brought together a large workforce, multiple trucks, individual machinery assessments and a substantial pallet inventory. JB managed the week-long move with attention to both the heavy items and the volume of stock passing through the relocation process.

This project demonstrates the different demands within industrial moving: a lathe weighing over one tonne needs its own handling assessment, while more than 1,000 pallets need a coordinated transport and stock-moving programme.

Factory and warehouse removalists in Sydney

The 3M project provides a specific example of JB's experience with large factory relocations, heavy machinery moving and bulk pallet transport in Sydney. The work extended from planning and site preparation through the physical relocation.

Businesses arranging a similar move can discuss the machinery list, pallet quantity, access, preferred timing and site-entry requirements with JB's heavy moving team in Sydney. A complete inventory helps bring the individual lifts and the wider commercial relocation into the same assessment.
