Sydney house moving plan
Moving House in Sydney: Your Access & Moving-Day Handover Plan
Bring the people, access and timing into one current plan. Make the unresolved questions visible before the moving team arrives.

A Sydney house moving plan that connects the whole day
An inventory tells the removalist what needs moving. A coordination plan connects that inventory with the people, access and timing needed to complete the move.
For a Sydney house or apartment move, start with two separate address records. Include the furniture entrance, proposed truck position, contact attending and any moving window. A confirmed pickup does not mean the destination is ready to receive the furniture.
Use this guide alongside JB’s existing moving checklist. The checklist covers preparation tasks; this plan focuses on the handovers that depend on one another.
Give each unresolved item an owner
Record who is following up a pending key, building booking or revised inventory. Include when the next update is expected so an unanswered question does not disappear into a long message thread.
Keys, packing and building access: what must happen first?
Ready to leave
Confirm the agreed packing is complete, excluded items are identified and the person releasing the property can provide access. Record any item still awaiting assessment.
Ready to receive
Confirm keys, entrance access, the receiving contact and destination rooms. Tell the coordinator if availability is still uncertain.
If packing, cleaning, a property handover or another supplier is involved, identify where their work affects the move. Ask each provider about the sequence before promising one fixed timetable to everyone.
A moving plan should show the agreed attendance window and any dependencies. It should not turn an estimate into a guaranteed completion time.
Your Sydney moving-day coordination sheet
Use the table as a framework and replace the example entries with your actual arrangement. Add confirmed, pending or changed beside each row.
| Handover | Person to name | Information to record |
|---|---|---|
| Packing to moving | Customer or agreed packing contact. | What is ready, excluded or still unfinished. |
| Pickup access | Person opening the property. | Keys, furniture entrance and access window. |
| Building arrangements | Authorised building contact, if applicable. | Lift/loading bookings and property instructions. |
| Destination access | Person with the keys. | When the destination can receive the move. |
| Furniture placement | Receiving decision-maker. | Room names, placement priorities and open decisions. |
| Final review | Customer and relevant provider contact. | Completed work and any issue needing follow-up. |
Keep contact details in your booking record and share them only with the people who need them. Do not publish access codes or personal contact information in a public planning document.
Help your Sydney removalist assess the crew and truck
Explain both the quantity of goods and the route between the rooms and truck. Stairs, long carries, entrances, additional stops and large items can change the resources required even when the bedroom count stays the same.
Packing and cartons
Confirm which rooms or item groups are being packed by whom. Record where cartons are waiting so they do not obstruct the agreed furniture route. Discuss assistance through JB’s packing and unpacking service.
Specialist and unusually heavy items
Identify pianos, safes, marble pieces or oversized furniture early, with photos and relevant dimensions. Ask for the necessary assessment; do not assume the household inventory alone establishes a handling method.
Multiple stops or storage
Give every group of items a destination. Keep direct-delivery and storage instructions distinct, and confirm any change with the coordinator before moving day.
What to do when the moving arrangements change
Send the booking reference, affected address, previous arrangement, new information and remaining question in one update. Ask the provider to confirm any effect on timing or the agreed scope.
The destination key collection is delayed.
The customer tells the move coordinator which address is affected and when the next update is expected. Together they confirm the available next step and any implications. The receiving contact gets the revised plan rather than relying on the original message.
Keep pricing questions connected to the written booking. The Sydney removalist quote guide shows which scope and charging details to clarify before accepting a change.

Planning a house move in Sydney: common questions
Does this replace my removalist’s booking confirmation?
No. It helps organise your responsibilities and updates alongside the accepted quote and booking documents.
Who should receive furniture if I cannot attend?
Nominate a contact who can provide access, explain the destination plan and raise questions through the agreed channel. Confirm the arrangement with your provider.
What if I do not know when the new property will be available?
Keep that dependency visibly pending and tell the coordinator. Ask what options can be assessed rather than treating an uncertain time as confirmed.
Should packing and moving be booked as separate stages?
Discuss the quantity, scope and access with the provider. Agree the sequence and any separate attendance needed for your particular move.
