How much will my home move cost?

Your estimate depends on the furniture and boxes, travel, access at both properties, crew, vehicle and any extra services. Share your inventory and access details so JB can provide a written scope and explain the applicable charges.

Compare quotes using the same inventory and access information. Ask whether packing labour, materials, travel, minimum time, dismantling and storage are included, and how delays or scope changes are handled. Can you move apartments with stairs or lifts?

Tell us the floor level, stairs, lift dimensions, booking windows, loading restrictions and distance from the truck at each address. Photos help JB assess the route and select suitable people and equipment.

Check whether the building requires a goods-lift booking, protective padding, an induction or restricted moving hours. Confirm these details at the destination as well as pickup. If the lift cannot take an item, send measurements and photographs before assuming it can use the stairs. Use our apartment access plan to organise the information.

Can you pack and protect my furniture?

Ask about full, partial or item-specific packing and unpacking. Let JB know about fragile furniture and surfaces so the protection, materials and handling can be agreed before moving day.

Identify delicate finishes, glass, loose shelves and items requiring dismantling. Agree who prepares appliances and any work that needs a qualified trade or installer. For customer-packed cartons, use clear destination labels and tell the team about fragile contents. Packing materials, reassembly and packaging removal should be confirmed in the scope. What if I need storage between homes?

EasyBox mobile storage can be included when your move-out and move-in dates do not line up. Discuss collection, storage and redelivery dates, plus any access you may need to your belongings.

Separate items you need immediately from those that can remain in storage. Tell JB about fragile contents and any changes to the expected storage period or new address. Can you move pianos, marble tables or other heavy items?

Declare these items when you enquire and provide dimensions, estimated weight, photos and the complete access route. JB assesses specialist equipment and handling separately before confirming the job.

Photograph doorways, steps, landings and the final placement area as well as the item. Equipment selection depends on the full route and site conditions. A piano needs its type and dimensions recorded; our piano removals page explains the information to supply for an assessment.

How do I choose the right truck and prepare for moving day?

Start with an inventory of furniture, boxes and appliances. The moving calculator helps estimate volume; JB also checks parking, street and driveway access, stairs and any extra stops before selecting the truck and crew.

Allow for the shape and handling requirements of items, not just their estimated volume. A suitable truck also needs legal loading access and enough clearance along the route. Confirm what should be ready before arrival, keep important belongings with you and make sure someone can provide access at both properties.

For local moves, share both suburbs and any extra collection stops. A move across Sydney may need a different loading and access plan from a move within the same building. What should I include in my household moving inventory?

Work through every room, cupboard, garage, balcony and shed. Count furniture and appliances, estimate carton numbers and note unusually large, fragile or heavy pieces. State what will stay behind and whether there are additional collection stops. Photos help explain items that are difficult to describe. Use the moving volume calculator as a starting point, then update JB if the list changes before moving day.

Do you dismantle and reassemble beds or other furniture?

Identify each item in your enquiry and say whether dismantling, reassembly or placement is required. Share photographs, dimensions and any assembly instructions, especially for complex or fragile pieces. Confirm which tasks are included before booking and who will keep fittings labelled together. Work involving fixed installations, specialist assembly or a qualified trade needs separate assessment; do not assume every task is covered by furniture transport.

What if settlement, keys or access times change?

Tell JB as soon as you know the new timing and explain whether pickup, delivery or both are affected. Avoid relying on access before the keys and building arrangements are confirmed. Ask how waiting time, rescheduling or temporary storage would affect the scope and charges. Read the booking terms and agree any revised arrangements directly with the team.

What should I keep with me on moving day?

Set aside keys, identification, medicines, chargers, important documents and a small set of everyday essentials. Keep items you will need before the truck is unloaded clearly separate from the moving inventory. Label an essentials carton for the destination and tell the team which rooms or items you want accessible first. Explain any belongings that must stay at the property before packing or loading begins.
