REAL JB PROJECT · BOAT EXTRACTION & RESTRICTED ACCESS
1.8-Tonne Warehouse Boat Extraction
A boat built inside a warehouse, with an exit that required a carefully controlled change of angle.
JB Removals brought a four-person crew to extract this 1,800 kg boat. The hull could not be taken straight through the warehouse doorway, making the angle of the boat a central challenge throughout the job.
Over a full day’s work, the team combined gantries, jacks, slings and spreader bars with custom-made pallet-based supports, wedges, chocks and adapted tools to bring the boat outside.

THE ACCESS PROBLEM
Built inside the warehouse. A challenging route outside.
The boat had been built inside the warehouse, but moving the 1.8-tonne hull through the exit required a specific angle. Its shape, the doorway clearance and the available working space all influenced how it could be handled.
JB developed the extraction plan around the boat and the opening. The crew needed to support the hull while changing its orientation, then guide it through restricted access.
This was a full day’s work for four JB team members, combining specialist heavy lifting equipment with practical, job-specific preparation.
CUSTOM PREPARATION
Pallet-based supports, wedges and chocks made for the boat
JB custom-made pallet-based supports, wedges and chocks to help establish the angle needed at the doorway. Some handling tools were also adapted specifically for the job.
The support arrangement had to suit the curved hull and the way the boat needed to move. This preparation formed part of the extraction plan alongside gantries, jacks, slings, spreader bars and securing straps.
A 1,800 kg hull
The boat’s weight called for specialist mechanical handling and coordinated work by the four-person crew.
A demanding exit angle
The position of the hull at the doorway determined whether the boat could pass through the opening.
A custom support setup
Pallet-based supports, wedges, chocks and adapted tools were prepared around this particular boat and access route.
THE EXTRACTION SEQUENCE
Planning, custom supports and coordinated heavy lifting
Planning around the boat and doorway
JB planned the move around the 1.8-tonne boat, the restricted warehouse exit and the angle required to clear it. The hull’s position and the available working space shaped the handling approach.
Preparing the custom supports and tools
The team made pallet-based supports, wedges and chocks to suit the boat. Additional tools were adapted for the handling arrangement required by this extraction.
Combining the lifting and moving equipment
Gantries, pallet jacks and trolley jacks were used together with slings, spreader bars and straps. The equipment and custom supports formed part of the arrangement used to reposition the hull.
Guiding the angled hull through the doorway
The four-person crew coordinated the boat’s movement through the restricted opening. Achieving the necessary angle while supporting the hull was the most challenging part of the job.
Completing the warehouse extraction
The boat was brought outside during the full day’s work. The final supplied photograph shows it covered and supported outside following extraction.
EQUIPMENT ON THE JOB
Specialist equipment and practical preparation
The extraction used pallet jacks, gantries, trolley jacks, lifting slings, spreader bars and straps, together with custom-made wedges, chocks, pallet-based supports and adapted tools. The combination was selected around the boat’s shape, weight and restricted exit route.

THE COMPLETED EXTRACTION
A 1.8-tonne boat brought outside
JB completed the warehouse extraction with four crew members in one full day. Custom-made supports and adapted tools worked alongside the specialist equipment to achieve the angle needed at the doorway.
The project demonstrates JB’s experience with heavy boat handling, restricted warehouse access and complex loads that call for a job-specific moving plan.

Questions about heavy boat and difficult-access removals
Can JB assess a boat that will not fit through a warehouse door?
Share the boat’s weight, dimensions and photographs of the warehouse and exit. JB can assess the load and access together, including whether a change of orientation needs to be considered.
What made this boat extraction challenging?
The 1.8-tonne hull needed to reach a specific angle to clear the doorway. The four-person team used specialist equipment and custom supports during a full day’s work.
Why were wedges and chocks made for this job?
The custom wedges, chocks and pallet-based supports formed part of the handling arrangement used to establish the required angle for this particular boat.
What details should I send for a specialist moving quote?
Provide the known weight and dimensions, photographs or video of the item and full route, doorway clearances, collection and destination details, and your preferred timeframe.
