JB REMOVALS PROJECT · SYDNEY · HEAVY FURNITURE HANDLING
1-Tonne, 7.5-Metre Table Installation in Sydney
Eight removalists, four scissor lifts, pallet jacks and a HIAB crane truck: a coordinated move to position a one-tonne table on two stands and level it over an uneven floor.

- 1,000 kg · 7.5 metres
- A long, substantial tabletop requiring support and clearance along its full length.
- Eight-person crew
- A coordinated JB team managing the different stages of handling and placement.
- Two stands · Levelled finish
- Final installation included setting the table on its stands and correcting for the uneven floor.
The challenge: moving a one-tonne table over 7.5 metres long
JB Removals was engaged to handle and install an oversized timber table in Sydney. Weighing one tonne and measuring 7.5 metres long, the table needed to be positioned onto two stands, then levelled to suit an uneven floor.
The weight was only one part of the challenge. The long tabletop occupied much of the working space, making its support, direction of movement and final alignment important throughout the job. The photographs show a polished timber surface, substantial edges and an indoor placement area with limited room beside the load.
This heavy table installation called for an eight-person crew and a combination of external crane-truck handling, scissor lifts and pallet jacks. Each stage brought the table closer to its final position while keeping the long top supported.
A coordinated heavy-lifting and placement operation
Protecting the tabletop before handling
The project photographs show blankets around the tabletop's edges, cardboard across its surface and securing straps holding the protective layers in place. That preparation addressed the polished finish and broad exposed surfaces before the table reached its final installation stage.
HIAB crane-truck support outside
A HIAB crane truck was used outside as part of the table's handling and placement operation. The external crane-truck work and the indoor positioning required different equipment, reflecting both the weight of the piece and the space available at each stage.
Four scissor lifts and pallet jacks for indoor positioning
Inside, JB used four scissor lifts along with pallet jacks to support and position the long tabletop. The photographs show lifting equipment arranged around the table, with team members working alongside the load and the stands prepared nearby.
With eight removalists involved, the operation depended on coordinated movement and communication across the length of the table. Support and alignment had to be maintained as the tabletop was brought into position for installation on its two stands.
Placing the table onto two stands
Reaching the room was one stage of the job; setting the table onto its stands was another. The long top needed to align with both supports so that its final position suited the room and the stand arrangement.
JB managed the supported positioning and placement of the tabletop onto the two stands. The final photograph shows the polished table in its installed position, with the handling equipment removed from around it.
Levelling the table over an uneven floor
The floor was uneven, so the installation included levelling the table after positioning it on the stands. This finishing stage addressed the difference in floor level beneath the supports and the resulting alignment of the long tabletop.
For a piece spanning 7.5 metres, final placement needed attention across the whole table. JB completed the move with the tabletop positioned on its two stands and levelled to suit the floor conditions.
Heavy furniture moving and table installation in Sydney
This project brings together the tasks involved in oversized furniture handling: protecting a finished surface, arranging support for a long load, coordinating a specialist crew, combining outdoor and indoor equipment, and completing the final installation.
Customers planning a large table move can use this case study as an example of JB's heavy moving services in Sydney. The crew and equipment for another job are assessed around that item's weight, dimensions, construction, access and intended position.
