THE PROJECT
Pizza oven relocation in Sydney with very limited access
This pizza oven relocation in Sydney combined a substantial load with a route that offered very little working space. The external timber stairs sat between the house wall and a handrail, creating a confined passage for the oven, moving equipment and crew.
The oven’s rounded body added another challenge. Its widest section had to pass through the stair corridor while the load remained supported on the stair climber. Beyond the steps, the team still needed to move through the side access and complete the transfer onto the concrete slab.
Two JB removalists completed the relocation using the stair climber. This was a job where specialist equipment, close coordination and attention to the final destination all mattered.
WHAT MADE IT CHALLENGING
A heavy oven, narrow stairs and an elevated final position
Restricted stair clearance
The wall and handrail limited the available space. The oven’s curved shell and the footprint of the stair climber both had to be considered throughout the stair section.
A bulky, rounded 250 kg load
The oven’s shape made secure support especially important. The photographs show orange straps holding it against the equipment and cardboard protection around the contact area.
Placement on a concrete slab
Reaching the patio was only part of the work. The relocation finished with the oven upright on the outdoor kitchen’s concrete slab, rather than left at ground level.
THE HANDLING METHOD
How two removalists moved the 250 kg pizza oven
Supporting and securing the oven
At the preparation area, the team brought the oven and stair climber together. The photo sequence shows the oven positioned on the equipment with cardboard around its support area and orange straps securing the rounded body.
Negotiating the very narrow staircase
The stair climber carried the supported oven through the timber stair section. With the wall close to one side and the handrail on the other, the crew had limited room to guide the load. The photographs show just how closely the oven fitted within the route.
Continuing through the confined side access
The narrow passage remained a handling challenge beyond the stairs. The oven stayed strapped to the equipment as it passed through the side access and reached the paved outdoor area.
Transferring the oven onto the concrete slab
The team then completed the final placement on the concrete outdoor kitchen slab. This last stage required a change from moving the oven along the route to setting it in its intended position. The final photograph shows the oven upright on the slab with the moving equipment nearby.

THE RESULT
A difficult-access pizza oven move completed
JB’s two-person crew relocated the 250 kg pizza oven over the narrow stairs and completed the placement on the concrete slab. The project demonstrates the importance of considering the entire journey: securing the item, managing the staircase, clearing the passage and reaching the final position.

Can the oven be placed on an outdoor kitchen slab?
Final slab placement formed part of this job. Describe your support surface, its height and the surrounding space so JB can include the final transfer in the proposed scope.
Will every pizza oven move need only two removalists?
Two removalists completed this particular relocation. The crew and equipment for another oven depend on the load, access and final placement requirements.
